Markell-Bani is the brainchild of two local visionaries, Gregory
Markell and Sean
Bani. The two decided to create a wine brand that embraced African-American culture, while maintaining elements and character loved by traditional wine drinkers. Their passion for fine wine and discovering that the wine industry has historically overlooked the African-American community, led to the formation of Markell-Bani. Wine lovers from all walks of life can appreciate this brand of wines created by Markell-Bani. Whether you are a novice wine drinker or connoisseur, Markell-Bani fine wines can be experienced and enjoyed by all. Descriptions
Merlot – Its typical taste is rough but less so than Cabernet Sauvignon. A middle palate gap is common. As a wine, its softness has made it an “introductory” wine for new red-wine drinkers. Merlot grapes are typically grown on the US West Coast and Australia. This red wine is suited for almost any meal.
Black Rasberry Merlot – This wine is attractive to novice wine drinkers because of its sweet black-rasberry flavoring. The sweet flavor nicely compliments the softness, making it good with a meal or served alone.
Chardonnay – It was the most popular white grape through the 1990’s. It can be made sparkling or still. It’s an excellent choice for fish and chicken dishes. Chardonnay is often wider-bodied (and more velvety) than other types of dry whites, with rich citrus (lemon, grapefruit) flavors. Fermenting in new oak barrels adds a buttery ton (vanilla, toast, coconut, toffee). Tasting a Californian Chardonnay should give some creaminess.
White Zinfandel – Often abbreviated as White Zin, is an off-dry to sweet, pink-colored rose wine. White Zinfandel is made from the Zinfandel wine grape, which would otherwise produce a bold and spicy red wine.
Strawberry Sangiovese – The flavor profile of Sangiovese is fruity, with moderate to high natural acidity and generally a medium-body ranging from firm and elegant to assertive and robust and a finish that can tend towards bitterness.
